Years before Rob became a successful comedian, he had a job on The Shopping Channel. Footage of Rob trying to sell a lawnmower can be found here. Thanks to CaltonFloret for uploading the video.

A cartoon of Rob appears on the front of the QI Annual 2008. There might also be more from Rob inside the book, but as I've not read it, I don't know. Here's a picture of the Rob cartoon anyway.

Rob will be making a few appearances on TV and Radio during the Christmas period. Here's what we have to look forward to.

 

Oliver Twist

18th - 21st December - 8pm (8:30 on 21st)- BBC 1

 

Drama adaptation of Charles Dickens' much-loved tale of a young orphan boy. Having endured a miserable and brutal childhood, Oliver is sold to a local undertaker where his mistreatment forces him to escape to London. Once in the capital, he is welcomed into the seductive world of pick-pocketing by the criminal underworld and, before long, is in deep trouble with the law.

Heston Blumenthal's Perfect Christmas

19th December - 8pm - BBC 2

 

Heston makes a Christmas feast for Terry Wogan, Kirsty Wark, Dara O'Briain, Rob Brydon, Richard E Grant and Sue Perkins. The guests are given hot/cold mulled wine and 'Christmas baubles' filled with salmon mousse. His guests have no idea what to expect: when a panel is removed to display the dining table, nestled within a Narnian Christmas tree forest. 

 

Humph In Wonderland

25th December - Midday - BBC Radio 2

 

The team from I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue present their own unique take on Lewis Carroll's most famous work, casting their reluctant chairman Humphrey Lyttelton in the title role. Featuring Tony Hawks, Sandi Toksvig, Tim Brooke- Taylor, Graeme Garden, Barry Cryer, Andy Hamilton, Rob Brydon, Jeremy Hardy, Jack Dee and Colin Sell on the piano.

 

The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2007

30th December 2007 - 9pm - Channel 4

 

It's the return of Channel 4's legendary annual star-studded entertainment fest, the Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2007 hosted by Jimmy Carr, with celebrity teams including Jonathan Ross, Rob Brydon, Russell Brand, Noel Fielding, David Mitchell and Lily Allen. Each of the celebrities will battle it out to see who knows the most about what hit the headlines this year, tackling questions such as "Can you name the famous scientist who defied gravity this year?", "Which London landmark met with a fiery end?" and "Who starred in an advert from beyond the grave?".

 

 

It's quite early in the month, so some of these dates and times might change.

The BBC 1 Drama Heroes and Villains: Napoleon that was broadcast last month, is to be released on DVD. Play.com have it listed to be released on 28th January 2008. No cover art or details on DVD extras has been listed yet.

Rob's production company Jones The Film has finally updated their website. This includes some information about a new one off show called Rob Brydon's Identity Crisis.

 

Jones the Film has recently been commissioned to make a one-off documentary for BBC Four, to be broadcast on St David’s Day 2008. 'Rob Brydon's Identity Crisis' will be presented by Rob Brydon and will be an exploration of what it means to be Welsh in the 21st century

 

St David's Day is on the 1st March, so that's when we'll expect to see it.
